The anime-inspired side-scrolling adventure game from Throughline Games called भूल गए एनी finally received its release date. The game is scheduled to debut as part of the Square Enix Collective on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 15th, 2018 next month for $19.99.

The release date was accompanied by another story trailer, highlighting some of the animated cinematics and the side-scrolling gameplay.

The game centers around a young girl named Anne who ends up in the land of the forgotten; a place where items go that have been lost in the real world. Known as the Forgotten Lands, Anne spends her time attempting to find a way back home with the help of the Forgotlings and a certain Master Bonku. The game centers around 2D exploration, puzzle solving and platforming. There are also some dialogue choices sprinkled about.

You can check out the gameplay trailer below, which gives you a solid idea of how the cinematics and gameplay ebb and flow with one another to create a more classical adventure experience not unlike games in the past such as अंधेरे का दिल or एक और विश्व, but with obvious anime inspirations at its core.

The platforming isn’t quite like old ध्वनि का or सुपर मारियो games, but seems to fall in line a lot closer to the likes of the original राजकुमार फारस की or the side-scrolling हत्यारा है पंथ games, where it’s slightly more paced and methodical rather than fast and frenetic.

A lot of people seem to like the art-style for the game, but I am curious how well the art-style and cinematic approach will play into the actual playability factors. Hopefully Anne doesn’t control too stiffly or suffer from control latency, which can sometimes prohibit “cinematic” games from being as engaging as they could be.
