Sony has been losing quite a few exclusives lately. This time the PS3 and PS4 walking sim that made lots of money, sold millions of copies, and helped put thatgamecompany on the map, will be making its way to Valve’s platform very soon. Annapurna Interactive is publishing this version of the game after it originally debuted on the Epic Games Store last year. But since no one buys games on that platform it will debut on Steam starting June 11th, 2020.
If you missed out on the title when it first dropped back in 2012, or when it launched on the PS4 in 2015, or when it arrived on the Epic Games Store in 2019, you can now look to get your hands on it in 2020 on Steam.
The game won numerous awards, despite barely having sound effects, not having any combat, and forfeiting gamers the ability to communicate through voice or text.
Even still, the game’s multiplayer co-op was inventive at the time since players could only help guide each other along the way, and the story unraveled through pictographs and eidetic iconography.
The core gameplay basically consists of jumping around on platforms, walking through the desert, and making wispy chime noises to other players along the way.
As mentioned, there’s no combat and no other forms of interactivity other than floating and chiming your way through the levels.
The theme of the game is about spiritual ascension, and letting go of the past in order to ascend.
It was one of the few crossover games that really appealed to normies, especially religious normies who very quickly picked up on the game’s symbolic gestures.
It launched last year on the Epic Games Store as a timed exclusive, which is usually set for one year. And now that the year of exclusivity is up, the game will appear on the Steam store.
This is more of the type of game best watched rather than played, and it’s only an hour or two long, so it’s not like you’re missing much if you just rev up a YouTube Let’s Play and be done with it.
