रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, सोनी ने 229 मिलियन डॉलर में इनसोम्नियाक गेम्स का अधिग्रहण किया

In a new SEC filing, we learn that Sony has put up around $229 million to acquire Insomniac Games — a studio best known for churning out games such as Spyro, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance: Fall of Man, Sunset Overdrive, और मार्वल का स्पाइडर मैन। In case you don’t know, Sony acquired Insomniac Games back in mid-August, 2019.

वेबसाइट के अनुसार gamesindustry.biz, Sony purchased Insomniac Games to be part of the blue brand family, which means that only exclusives or timed exclusives are the only things that will come from the dev team.

इसका मतलब यह है कि the deal we covered that took place in 2019 has a price on it, unlike before, when the deal was settled for an undisclosed amount.

When acquired, here’s what Ted Price, the founder of the company, had to say about the whole assimilation process courtesy of insomniac.games:

“Insomniac has a new home as we join the Worldwide Studios family at Sony Interactive Entertainment. It feels more like a homecoming though. We’ve collaborated with Sony for more than 20 years — spanning all four PlayStation consoles, 20 total games and six franchises. We still work closely today with many of the same Sony teammates as we did when we released the original Spyro the Dragon in 1998.

The decision to join forces with Sony extends far beyond familiarity. Our studio vision is to create experiences that have a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives. As we look ahead to our future, we know that joining the WWS family gives us the best opportunities to fully achieve that vision on a much larger scale. Further, we believe that Sony shares a similar vision to positively impact players’ lives, their employees’ lives and the games industry at large.”

During those 20 years, gamesindustry.biz notes that Insomniac Games had branched out in 2012 by teaming up with Facebook to release Outernauts. Ever since then, the company also explored development on different platforms such as mobile, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Oculus Rift, and Magic Leap One.

But now, the company is sticking it out with Sony from here on out and will likely create more games for the PS4 and PS5 devices. In other words, expect an announcement that the company is cooking up something for the blue brand’s next-gen console in the coming months.

So there you have it, Sony paid ¥24,895 million or $229 million (mainly in cash) to acquire Insomniac Games.
